The 4th European Ecotourism Conference will be held in Safranbolu, Turkey from April 17th to 18th 2017. The conference will bring together 300 professionals. Safranbolu Tourism Faculty at Karabük University will host the conference with the partnership of General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks at Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. With a focus on promoting the role of ecotourism in sustainable development, the two-day Conference aims to make a contribution to the UNWTO's 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
The chief objective of the Conference is to provide a platform for industry stakeholders; researchers, academicians, practitioners, as well as industrial professionals throughout the continent and beyond to present their research results and development activities on ecotourism. This conference will also provide the delegates with the opportunities to exchange new ideas and application experiences in person.
Safranbolu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was declared as a heritage site in 1994 for its key role in the caravan trade extending over many centuries.
